In addition, come check out our January courses!
Tuesday mornings, beginning January 10, 2017
-A JOURNEY THROUGH JEWISH HISTORY - Part 2. This class continues the journey through our Jewish History that began last January. You do not need to have been in the January 2016 class to participate. In this class, we will look at Jewish History in America . Tuesdays, 9:15 – 10:30 am. Taught by Sue Paul.
-THE BULLY PULPIT: Passionate discussions on the issues that are inspiring our leaders and thinkers in the Jewish world from the HUC-JIR College Commons. Tuesdays, 10:45 – noon. Taught by Rabbi Robinson and Rabbi Koppel.
Sunday, January 8, 9:00am – 10:30am: Voices of the Outsiders: Rock and Roll's Unsung Artists*. Rock and Roll Music is an American contribution to the world. Early performers were mainly African-Americans and poor whites, often from the American south. These performers, considered “outsiders”, often found relevant themes from the words of first and second generation Jewish immigrants, who were also considered “outsiders” by mainstream culture. Speaker is Joel Glazier. Sponsored by Brotherhood, and open to the public by reservation. Invite your friends! A bagel and lox breakfast will be available for $5. Click HERE to register online, or call or email Steve Zimmerman (302.547.0036 or Zimmerman.steven0@gmail.com) *Funding for this program was provided through a grant from the Delaware Humanities Forum with funds from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Sunday, January 29, 10:00am – noon: SACRED AGING: LIVING THE NEXT THIRD.
What do you want to do with your life when you’re 60? 70? 80? Join panelists as we explore how to prepare for the years after retirement. We will talk about how to figure out what we want, then execute that plan both financially and emotionally. We'll discuss how to create a concrete financial plan for insuring that we don't "run out of money" but also how to enjoy life without fear and worry. We will have some concrete questions that you should ask in your next meeting with your financial advisor/planner as well as tips for making life in the next third secure. Sponsored by Adult Learning and Caring Committee. Light brunch served.
B’shalom,
Rabbi Yair D. Robinson
