Exploring Jewish Ethics: Generosity and Gratitude in Judaism

What does it mean when we speak of generosity? Frequently, we speak of the act of giving, as if to be generous is to perform acts or offer gifts outside ourselves. But are we, actually, only being “half-generous”? How do we respond when we are the recipients of generosity? What does Judaism teach us about being the recipient, rather than the contributor? How do we allow our yetzer, our inner being, to interfere with generosity, shutting down our ability to receive in blessing? How can what we do help us be more generous, as givers and receivers? And how does that help us serve the other? We’ll explore these questions and more together. Light dairy lunch provided.
